Balance-Unbalance 2018

Balance-Unbalance (BunB) is an annual international conference that explores the role of art and design as catalysts for engaging with the ecological crisis, drawing connections across nature, science, technology, and society. The conference addresses urgent global challenges each year through interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration.

In 2018, the conference was hosted by The Patching Zone, a transdisciplinary research and development lab based in the Netherlands. I was asked to design and implement a WordPress-based website to support the conference’s communication and registration needs.

My work on this project included:

• Researching and evaluating WordPress themes to find the most suitable and flexible option
• Installing and customizing the selected theme to reflect the conference’s branding and visual identity
• Setting up ticket sales and registration functionality, ensuring a smooth user experience for attendees
• Structuring content for speaker bios, program schedules, venue details, and news updates
• Ensuring the site was responsive, easy to navigate, and straightforward to maintain for the organizers

The result was a dynamic and accessible platform that served as the central point of engagement for participants, contributors, and the wider community.
